How to Keep a Strapless Dress From Slipping

Slipping almost always comes down to one of three things: wrong size, no grip, or missing structure. Fix those and the dress stays put.

Size It for the Band, Not the Bust

A strapless piece needs to grip snugly around the ribcage. If you can pull the top down over your bust without unfastening anything, it's too big, size down rather than relying on adjustments.

Add Grip

Silicone bra strips or a strapless bra with silicone lining inside the band stop fabric from sliding on skin. This matters more than the dress's own construction.

Tape as a Backup, Not a Fix

Fashion tape holds fabric to skin at the sides, useful as reinforcement, not a substitute for correct sizing.

Test Before You Commit

Raise your arms and move like you would while dancing before you leave the house. If it slips during a test, it'll slip at the event.
